But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. (John 14:26)

It’s back to school time again! Not just a time of happy thoughts for children, and much relief and/or stress for parents; but a time filled with anxious thoughts. Why so? For parents with young adults in university, the letting-go process has begun. For these young adults, their anxiety maybe about their studies, peer pressure, or just simply managing on their own. Whatever the anxiety, there is a fair advantage for all – The Comforter is here!

The Comforter came in fulfillment of Jesus’ promise to His disciples. The separation from Christ would be unbearable, so He had to send them a Comforter; someone to encourage them as they face the challenge of evangelizing the world. They would have another Teacher who would remind them of things they’ve learnt before. This Comforter, The Holy Spirit, was their guide in accomplishing the mandate left for them by Jesus. Without Him, their efforts wouldn’t have borne the fruits it did.

It’s the same for us today. Whether you are a parent, or student, we too have help. The Comforter wasn’t just for the disciples back them – He is for us today as well! As parents, we can rest assured that our kids will continue to hold onto the faith that we instilled in them, while they were home. We can draw comfort from God’s words that they will not depart from the training given; that Jesus Christ will become even dearer to them in this their period of separation from home. As students, you too are assured of The Comforter’s presence Who will lead you to great success. You can take comfort in knowing that The Holy Spirit will be there with you, to teach you all things and to bring back things to your remembrance!

You don’t have to worry. You don’t have to fear. You have a fair advantage. The Holy Spirit is here. He will keep you parents; He will keep you students. Just keep your eyes on the prize – Christ – and you will all be winners!

Dear Father, we release Your precious gifts into Your hands and we pray that through Your Holy Spirit, that You will keep them in the way they go. Keep them faithful to You. Remind them of the fair advantage they have to succeed – The Holy Spirit as their helper. As parents, may be hold onto the assurance of Your word that they will not depart from You. In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.
