Holy Spirit

Spiritual sight is the Holy Spirit’s conviction to our conscience, helping us to recognize our state of sinfulness. I love to call that process the eyes of conscience. You see, irrespective of how morally good many of us are, in the eyes of God, our righteousness is really just filthy rags. By our good works, we are unable to measure up to God’s standard of righteousness. Therefore, we need the eyes of conscience to see our real status.

Like Judas, Balaam’s covetousness led him down the path of no return. Even after returning home, discontent filled his heart on the riches he could have gained, hadn’t God controlled his speech. He was bent on having the riches he so desires – even if it meant going against God’s will. You see friend, when we are bent on sinning, God will step aside and allow you to do as you please. The Spirit of God does not always strive with man. To his own eternal loss, Balaam, once a prophet of God, is forever loss to the riches of eternity. Don’t be like Balaam or Judas. Beware of covetousness!

In your Christian life, are you lacking spiritual power? Are you struggling with problems and finding it difficult to be obedient to God’s commands; to spend time in prayer and communion; is your prayer recited; is your worship ritualistic; is it difficult to share your faith? If you answer yes to any of the above then you need to be energized by The Holy Spirit.

We too need The Holy Spirit in our lives. He is our Deposit on Eternity! Without God's Spirit in our lives, we are none of His. The Holy Spirit keeps us burning brighter every day, He keeps us going, He strengthens us and guide us in the way we should God. He is truly a life companion. I find that I am more decisive when I follow the instructions of The Holy Spirit (Isa. 30:21). It's such a comforting feeling to know and follow the voice of God. This is only possible with the Holy Spirit's help.

The Comforter wasn’t just for the disciples back them – He is for us today as well! As parents, we can rest assured that our kids will continue to hold onto the faith that we instilled in them, while they were home. We can draw comfort from God’s words that they will not depart from the training given; that Jesus Christ will become even dearer to them in this their period of separation from home.

He lost his kingdom, not because the Philistines were victorious over them, but because of his disobedience – his failure to wait! Saul believed that because as King, he could do anything and it would be okay. But offering sacrifice wasn’t listed on his job description. In his impatience he blundered and at first strike, he was out! Actions that followed were just residual effect of a failed leadership. He lost his esteemed post! But King Saul wasn’t the only one who failed to wait and the resulting negative effect on him and his people.

The Holy Spirit quickens us to live for Christ. Abiding in Christ is allowing His words to be our sword, and faith our shield. As our consciences are activated, and we now see sin as it really is; in faith, we can reach out to Jesus to rescue us from the evil of sin, its power and its woe. There comes a time in one’s life when enough is enough, whatever it may be, the limit has been reached. You’ve had enough. It’s the same with sinning.

So, what’s your testimony, what has God done for you lately? Who will be the first? Did God provide food in your hour of need? Did He provide a way of escape when you were tempted? Were you vindicated after being accused of something you weren’t guilty? Did God set you free from smoking, from drinking, from gambling, from being a womanizer? And the list goes on. There’s no need to feel ashamed. In stead, you should be thankful and joyful in telling your story of how God ransomed and set you free.
