The Lord declares that He fills Heaven and Earth, and nothing is hidden from Him. All plans we lay in secret are open to His all knowing eyes. We may do so behind closed, sealed and sound proof doors thinking no one will know. But God does see and knows. And He doesn’t keep secret if your plans are for evil. He will reveal them to His prophets and servants.
Like Jesus Christ, we can choose to conquer our enemies by doing good, or we can be conquered by our hate and malice. We can choose to use good deeds as our weapon or we can use the same weapon of revenge that our enemies used. We can choose to heap coals of fire on their heads or we can keep the smile on their faces as they gloat over us. We can choose peace by fanning, and keep fanning the flames of our fire of coals, or we can chose to be miserable and defeated.
Like many others, King Saul’s story could have ended differently. Their legacy of obedience could have lived on down through generations. Instead, they made themselves into clowns. Do not make the same mistake King Saul, and others, have made. Do not be a clown. The wisest man found out late (better to be late than never) that it is better to fear God and give Him glory because everything would be revealed in the judgment. All cases are being decided now. What will the judgment reveal about your life and mine?
The Bible records the story of Ananias who reneged on his vow to God and his wife as an accessory to the fact. Ananias had promised to sell his land and return all proceeds to God; but after the sale, he had a change of heart. He decided to lie about the sale price with the view of only giving part of the proceeds to the Church. His wife was in full support of this decision. He went to church and presented his offering, but the Holy Spirit told Peter that Ananias lied about the sale price. When confronted on the spot, his immediate punishment was death. The same punishment was meted out to his wife only minutes after his burial. A really harsh punishment for breaking a vow!!
My soul is troubled. Our world has truly changed. People have become less important. Survival of the fittest is the watchword and it’s a ‘dog eat dog’ interaction in our societies. The vulnerable are being passed, they are seen as a burden on the State, and many are ‘dumped’ like trash in ‘landfills’. Where has all the decency gone? Evil reigns without restraint. There is no respect for man or laws. Corruption is everywhere – even among Christians and Christian institutions. Chaos is the order of the day. Is any of this true about the society in which you live?
The judgment is set and the judge has been appointed. The examination is nearing its end. It is minutes to midnight. For some, their examination will culminate at Jesus’ return; but for others, theirs will end when they die. When death comes, it is pens and pencils down. The next thing they’ll know is their results. How will they fare – did they pass or did they fail? As we near the end of this process, how will we fare? Will we pass or fail? Will we hear “well done”, or will we hear “depart from me”?
Like the process of physical immunization, in the spiritual realm, we needed an immunogen. God in His wisdom knew that the only way we would survive is to have this needed vaccination. He sent Jesus to be our immunogen. Jesus, who knew no sin, became sin for us so that we might become the righteousness of God. Praise the Lord! The immunization process is complete. But God did even more.
Daniel knew that the judgment was coming because God revealed His secret to Daniel (Daniel 7:9). He was assured that it wouldn’t happen in his time but it was certain. As he was permitted to view down the corridors of time, Daniel must have shivered at all that would transpired. He was comforted to see the ending. The court was set and the devil’s dominion would be taken away forever.
