“If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.” (1 John 1: 8-10)

I have often wondered why humans are injected with viruses that could potentially kill. When God created man, we had an innate immune system that automatically protected the body although there were no diseases then. With the introduction of sin, God gave scientists the immunization process as a means to strengthen the body’s immune system against diseases.

The free online encyclopedia defined immunization as “the process by which an individual's immune system becomes fortified against an agent (known as the immunogen). When this system is exposed to molecules that are foreign to the body, called non-self, it will orchestrate an immune response, and it will also develop the ability to quickly respond to a subsequent encounter because of immunological memory. This is a function of the adaptive immune system. Therefore, by exposing an animal to an immunogen in a controlled way, its body can learn to protect itself: this is called active immunization.” (Wikipedia.org)

To maintain a healthy immune system, we need a NEW START. Proper nutrition, exercise, water, sunshine, temperance, air, rest, and trust in God are sure ways to keep our immune system intact to help ward off diseases. This is doing our part – the rest is up to God.

Similarly, we need to be immunized against sin. But, I am told there is no immunity until eternity.

Like the process of physical immunization, in the spiritual realm, we needed an immunogen. God in His wisdom knew that the only way we would survive is to have this needed vaccination. He sent Jesus to be our immunogen. Jesus, who knew no sin, became sin for us so that we might become the righteousness of God. Praise the Lord! The immunization process is complete. But God did even more.

As a booster system, He implanted His law in our hearts as a means to help strengthen our consciences against the deceitfulness of sin. Also, He gave us a weakness protection plan in allowing us to confess our sins to obtain cleansing. Through Jesus’ sacrifice, His implanted Law in our hearts, and the medium of confession: we can now live above sin while still living in the presence of sin. Praise God, we are now saved from the power of sin! Our defense mechanism has been strengthened and sin does not have to reign in our bodies. Everyday, we can tap into our power source to boost us up and gain victory over sin. Thereby, our desire to practice sin will be constantly decreasing.

But there’s even better news! There’s coming a day, when we shall be saved from the presence of sin. In the new Earth, there will be no more sin. No more will sin and sinful practices perplex us. There will be no more need to keep our bodies under subjection because there will be no evil to entice us. With our new bodies, our innate immune system will be operational once again. Praise God! There will be no more sin to infect and destroy.

How is it with you? Have you been vaccinated against the sin leprosy? Is your booster system effective and relevant? If so, hold on. Complete victory is coming. If you’re not, what’s keeping you? Begin the process now. You will have immunity in eternity.

Holy Father in Heaven, thank You that in eternity, we will have full immunity from sin. Please help us to live in the power of this immunity now so that the process can be completed when Jesus comes. In His name we pray, amen.
