For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. (John 3:16 NKJV)

A long and lasting love, that’s what everyone dream of: these words echoed through the speakers of the sound system. It is so true. We all need to be loved and to feel love. And very importantly, we all need to give love. Everyone needs love and deserves to be loved irrespective of our possessions or position. And while it’s true that we should first love ourselves; it feels so good to love somebody and somebody loves you back.

But that wasn’t the state of affairs when God sent Jesus to show us how much He loves us. God knew that we didn’t love Him, yet that didn’t change how He felt about us. He loves us unconditionally then and He loves us unconditionally now. Whether or not we reciprocate His love, that doesn’t change how He feels about us. He loves us and desires to draw us in His embrace.

While many desires a long and lasting love from their relationship, there is no guarantee. Many persons, after decades of marriage, decided to call it quits, giving one reason or another. But if the honest truth be told, love has died. Their dream of being in the arms of their forever friend has vanished and now they are left to pick up the pieces.

But it’s different with God. Whether or not you love God, He loves you and will always love you. He loves you just the way you are. And He is longingly waiting on you to turn to Him for all your love needs. Have you been crushed by an earthly love? He feels your pain and will dry your tears. His arms are open wide to embrace you. You can cry on His shoulders. He will wipe your tears away and get you smiling again. After so many have failed you, why not give Him a chance to love you the way you deserved to be loved? His is a triple L – a long and lasting love.

Dear Father, we thank You for Your long and lasting love towards us. Thank you for giving us Jesus who saves us from our sins. May we always remember that no matter how others treat us, Your love is always constant; as You promised never to leave us nor forsake us. In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.
