And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left. (Isa. 30:21)

In her mind, she had a check list prepared with all the attributes that her future husband should possess. Even before she attained her sweet sixteenth birthday, she knew exactly what she didn’t want in a husband. You see, she observed couples in her community and Church and came to the conclusion that she would wait until marriage to have children. Her husband would not drink, smoke nor gamble. She would not settle for physical abuse – she was not yet cleared on other type of abuse. But her mind was made up, and she thought those traits were the most important. God had saved and transform her live from the age of 12, but still, she didn’t know Him well enough to recognize that His list was shorter than hers, yet more far reaching.

As a loving Father, God wants the best for His children, the very best for His daughter – His son. He wanted a heart surrendered to him. A heart surrendered to God was all that matters!! He knows the future and He knows what’s best. By her early 20’s she knew that God wants the best for her and her heartfelt prayer was “Father, choose for me”.

More than two decades ago, she accepted God’s choice for her; but she came mighty close to choosing for herself – a choice God interrupted permanently. He answered her prayer to choose for her and she is really happy with His choice.

We all make choices everyday - some without even thinking. What choices are you making? Is God a part of it? Is this they way He wants you to go? What about your life partner, your life work, where you will pursue your education or where your kids are pursuing theirs? Is this God’s will for your life? Did you seek His guidance – did you listen for His answers?

The Bible is filled with stories o persons who choose to obey and God blessed them. They did not know what the future holds, but they placed their future in God’s hands and accepted His choice. Gideon sought guidance from God to know His will. He listened for direction and followed God’s instructions completely. Victory was his and his story is written for a memorial for all generation. There are many more such persons who followed God and great success was theirs.

You can be the success God wants you to be. Your can be happy! Just follow the blueprint God gave you. In every facet of your life, acknowledge Him and allow Him to lead and direct your path. He promised that if you listen, you will hear His voice telling you the correct choice to make. Will you listen?

Heavenly Father, again you have spoken. You gave us the ability to choose, but maturity dictates that we are better off when we allow You to choose for us. We place all our decisions in Your hands and ask that You choose for us. Help us to understand (even if our hearts are already entangled with the wrong choice) the way You want us to go and grant the obedience so that we will follow Your way. In Jesus’ name, amen.
