"For wherever the carcass is, there the eagles will be gathered together." (Matthew 24:28)
 

The disciples were curious - they wanted to know the signs to look out for when Jesus would return; and when the world, as we know it, would end.

“Tell us!” they implored Jesus. I think they may even have questioned, “What signs should we look for? How would we know when that time really comes?”

Some people are keen on setting the time for this earth to end. But Jesus was very pointed when He warned, “let no man deceive you.” After giving specific actions that would precede His second coming, He blatantly advised them: “wherever the carcass is, there the eagles will be gathered together”.

Isn’t this true? Even though we don’t see them much anymore (I wonder what happened to them), vultures are scavengers of the earth. So, where there are dead bodies, any dead body if left lying around, their job is to make the place clean again. That’s their meal! Jesus informed His disciples that just as how the eagles gathered together to devour dead carcasses, likewise, the signs of His second coming will not be missed.

Did you read the financial report on the amount of money that was in circulation over the holidays – in-spite-of our struggling economies? Prosperity abounds. Did you hear who got killed today, or don’t you care anymore? Wickedness has become a way of life. So, didn’t you hear the latest gossip on couples who were splitting up, or those who were battling extra-marital affairs? What about the “lefties”? Well, this might have interested you – did it? What about judicial murders, school shootings, or terrorist bombings? Lawlessness and wars seem to keep things interesting. Isn’t Earth a terrible and unsafe place to live? Is there any place safe on this planet?

The “eagles” of prophetic signs are gathered together. They have formed a corridor down through space to usher in the king of Kings; a new era, a new earth wherein righteousness dwelleth. The end is near! Everything around us is echoing the warning that time will be no more. The sea is angry! The winds are fierce! The earth quakes in rage! Truly, signs of judgment are all gathered together for one great crescendo! Jesus is coming again!

Yes, Jesus is coming! The end is near! Are you prepared to meet Him? Is your heart right with God? Should He return today, would you be ready to go with Him? Is it well with my soul? The “eagles” of prophetic signs are all gathered together. They are all singing the same anthem. Time will be no more. Jesus is coming again!

Our Heavenly Father, truly the signs are fast fulfilling and the recurrence and intensity are getting greater and greater every day. Please help me to be right with You and to be ready when Jesus comes. In His name I pray, amen.
