For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. (1 Corinthians 13:12)

It is incomprehensible how I’ve gone without my glasses for over a year. All was needed was to get the frame repaired and I would be back on track. But I valued the independence of seeing unaided. I hated glasses and do prefer to reveal those beautiful brown eyes God blessed me with. I’ve been wearing glasses from childhood; so it was a welcomed freedom to be free of them. Until, God’s whispered: “What if you killed someone while driving in the night?”

You see, night driving was on pause for a very long time because I did not have my glasses. It doesn’t matter what the pedestrian wore; I could not see anything until I am really close enough. For night driving, this was dangerous. It was to this realization that our good Lord awakened my senses and I saw the folly of my actions. I had to get my glasses frame repaired.

And what a difference they’ve made! My world is so much brighter! I can see clearly now! My view has been extended to see in the distance. Praise God!

As I reflected on my now bright world, I can’t help but think of that day when all things will be made plain. There are so many things that I’ve wished I could know the truth about now; some are revealed while others aren’t. I am still unsure about many things. The ‘water’ is just too mercury. But what a day that will be when all will be made plain!

More so, what a joy it will be to see Jesus face to face. To see my guardian angels who have been there for me all my earthly life. What a joy it will be when things too painful to understand and accept now will be made plain, that will no longer cause me pain or an anxious moment.

In my sinful imagination; it’s like just as Jimmy Cliff said: “I can clearly now the rain is gone, … it’s gonna be a bright, bright sunshiny day … look all around it’s nothing but blue skies.” No more need to look in a water, polished stone, metal or glass mirror for a reflection. But face to face. It will be more than a rainbow in the sky. I will be able to see clearly, my God Who ransomed me, sustained and kept me, so I wouldn’t let go when the way was dark. I will see clearly why all the crucibles faced were allowed. I will see clearly and I will understand; and praise my Maker and King to whom my all I owe.

You may not now understand all the troubles that are allowed to test and try you; or the betrayal of those you love. You may not be able to see clearly now. But be assured, if you remain faithful, you will know, even as you are known. All will be made plain. Then it won’t matter because your ‘blue sky’ will not depart. You will always have bright sunshiny days. Just trust God to lead you now and everything else will be taken care of.

I now fully understand that in this sinful life, I will need my glasses to face my world. With God’s help I will wear them faithfully. But I do look forward to that day when my eyes will beam over many miles. The clarity of my vision now when compared to my vision then will seem as if I am now seeing through a dark glass. I can’t wait! No more glasses! I will be able to see, a billion times much clearer then.

My dear Heavenly Father, I so long for that day when everything is clear as crystal and there is absolute confidence that all are truthful and everything is as is. Until then, please help me to trust You to lead me into all truth. Keep me faithful until that day when I will see you face to face, without aided vision. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
