Jesus as the Prince of Peace warned that there would sometimes be division. How can we find rest when we constantly deal with selfishness, ambition, and hypocrisy? In what way does Christ uproot restlessness in our lives and in our world? How can we enjoy rest in him? Can rest be found in the new age religions or mysticism? How does Christ make the difference?

Give God The Glory

Humility is not one of my strong qualities. So, it is quite humbling when the Holy Spirit tempers my desire to exalt myself. I had an experience where I was in the right and I just wanted to defend myself and expose the offending party. With anger in my heart and fire raging in my eyes, I was prepared to step forward and beat my chest like the Pharisee, defending my right! But then, the Holy Spirit spoke and said, “Hold your peace and do not let your attitude or your voice betray how you feel”.

Road Code: Drive The Road of Life

Since we find it a joy (for others-we do out of compulsion) to obey most civil laws because of the freedom they affords, shouldn’t we be more than happy to obey God’s laws that offers us peace in all situations? His promise to us is that nothing will offend us; nothing will cause us to stumble when we do. God’s laws are his faithful instructions to us found in His word. They will provide guidance in the way we should ‘drive on the road of life’ so that we will not get derailed and loose our way. Just as we are happy to follow the Road Code, we will be happiest when we love His law.

Praying To Deaf Ears

The first half of the day was rough -- in a period of about three hours, I had only seen one book leave my canvassing bag. At this point, I was discouraged. A few days prior, books had been going out like crazy. But this day and the day before were so slow, and it became a mental battle to even go out into territory. I felt as though I had been praying to deaf ears, and that God no longer heard my cries. Over lunch, I decided it was time to do something different.
