What can we learn from the sacrifice of Jesus about how love manifests itself? Does following Jesus come at a cost? What did Jesus give up to rescue humanity? What can we learn from Paul, Peter, John, and Matthew about what it takes to follow Jesus? How does love manifest itself in the Christian faith?
What kind of attitude should Christians have toward reaching others? Does the manner in which we share truth matter? How can we demonstrate acceptance of others while at the same time we are responsible to share the truth with them? Can we love people without sharing truth?
Jesus often saw opportunities where others saw a closed and impossible door. How can we be more mission minded and have church growth eyes and ears today? Tradition, experience, reason, culture and the Bible all play a role in matters of faith. But, what is the proper role of each? What is the most authoritative in matters of faith, religion, practice, and theology? What does the Bible say is most authoritative? How did Jesus value tradition? How do you know when the Holy Spirit is leading? Can we trust what we feel and experience?
Can we trust the Bible? How do we know it is divinely inspired? What role did God play in the process that produced the Bible? What claims does the Bible make about itself?
Are there times when faithfulness to God and your responsibilities in secular matters can lead to jealousy? Are there people who conspire against you when you do the right thing? The mind is most easily deceived when it’s attention is not focused where it should be. The moment you get distracted, the moment you get pulled in a particular direction. You can miss something you should have seen but didn’t see because your eyes weren’t where they needed to be.
