O give thanks unto the LORD; call upon his name: make known his deeds among the people. Psalm 105:1

The month of June is always filled with life changing activities: from graduation to marriage. While merchants enjoy the increase in business at this time of year, people all over embrace these significant changes in their lives. It’s a time to celebrate, to rejoice.

It’s graduation time! And praise the Lord, the kids made us proud. From the early learning to the tertiary levels our graduates have done excellently! We give thanks unto the Lord for His goodness and rejoice for His deeds among the people.

While we appreciate all educational workers for their contribution in educating us to take our rightful place in society, I would like to single out those from private Christian institutions. Theirs is a job that can easily be characterized as ‘missionary work’. Many of these ‘missionaries’ gave so much, with such limited resources and realized such huge returns. They are under compensated yet their dedication speaks volume wherever they are scattered. Their graduates are either on par or above (in terms of academic accomplishments) when compared to others from public institutions. Still, they seem to have achieved more – yes they have been educated Heaven’s way.

I am reminded of God’s promises to Israel of old in Deuteronomy 28:12-14: “The LORD shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto thy land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand: and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and thou shalt not borrow. And the LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the LORD thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them: And thou shalt not go aside from any of the words which I command thee this day, to the right hand, or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them.”

We are thankful for all our graduates and celebrate with them for sticking it out when the challenges were great. Do keep your eye on the prize. In Heaven, you will exchange your graduation cap for your crown of life. For those with young children, seek God’s way to educate them. The returns will be huge, not only in this life but in the life to come.

In this season, as we celebrate the great achievements of our children, be it graduation or marriage, we look forward to that day when all our labors and trials will be o’re. Until then, remain faithful.

Dear Father, we look forward to that time when we will exchange our trials for your peace; our grad caps for your crown of life; or heartaches and tears for your joy. We look forward to Heaven where our education will never cease; as we discover more and more about your love and your vast creations. Please keep us faithful, till then, we pray, in Jesus’ name, amen.
