Who are we suffering to teach? Who informs the way we think? The way we live? The way we relate to each other? Or how we meet the challenges of life? If not God, then who? Based on Revelation 2:18-24.

Jesus’ response to the hurt, anger, resentment, and revenge in their faces and hearts toward their oppressors wasn’t a popular or welcomed one. It made Jesus sad to tell them something different than what they wanted to hear. What they heard was: “Do not resist. Go the extra mile. Go over and beyond the call of duty. Be agreeable. Respect authority.” Jesus only reiterated what they already knew, but the anger in their hearts tricked them into believing that they wanted otherwise.
If you are in bad company and desire to break it off, limit your exposure to that company and submit yourself to positive influence of God’s instructions for your life. Seek friends who wants God’s best for your life and who provides positive encouragement on your journey of faith. Remember, we are easily corruptible creatures. With God’s help, do all you can to remain pure.
Finally, a child’s request to his/her earthly parent is done in faith. Likewise, we are to ask in faith, believing that God can and that He will. Let us not doubt His ability or His willingness to relieve our depressed condition. He is ready and able to do far more than any government or president. He is more willing to give to us that which we are to ask of Him. Let’s ask in faith. We will receive.
