In that I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in His ways, and to keep His commandments, His statutes, and His judgments, that you may live and multiply; and the Lord your God will bless you in the land which you go to possess. (Deuteronomy 30:16)
While God loves us unconditionally, His blessings seems to be on condition of our obedient response to Him. Throughout the Israelites journeys and the condition of their settlement in the promised land, their blessings was dependent on their "contract" with God. Their part in the contract was just to be obedient to God. This seems a very simple request, but many died as a result of disobedient.
Today, the promise has not changed. God has promised to bless us and to make our lives a blessing - but we must be obedient to continuously enjoy His rich blessings.
Yes, His blessings do extend to the just and the unjust; He causes His sun to shine on everyone; but there is a special blessing for those who are obedient. It may not seem that way now - given your present circumstances - but God cannot lie. Your situation may be a blessing in disguise. Just remain faithful, and God's blessings and wisdom will be revealed, in time.
Lord, give me a heart like thine. Dear Father, thank you for the reminder, as recorded in Deuteronomy 28, of blessings in obedience. Please help us to be obedient to you, not just to receive your blessings, but out of a heart of love. Please provide our food for today and grant us victories, is our asking in Jesus' name, amen.
