Based on 2 Kings 6, John Spellman preaches on Elisha and his mentoring of the sons of the prophets. When an expensive piece of equipment is lost to the bottom of the Jordan river, all seems hopeless. What message could this hold for our church today? What encouragement could those facing life's circumstances gain? Why did God allow such an expensive loss in the first place? What can we learn about God through the miracle performed? This message focuses on how the gospel is not about us, but about God. It is a message about the need for less self and more Holy Spirit direction. It is also a message of hope to those who know God and emphasizes how a life without God leads to hopelessness.
This video is from the Class D, 2007-2010, Inspirited Network broadcasts on stickam with Joseph Williams and John Spellman covering topics related to Salvation and Christian Living. Videos are in standard definition since the broadcasts were done before the studio was built.
What is the purpose of the Sabbath as the Covenant sign? What does the Sabbath point us to? Why did God give the children of Israel the Sabbath? What are the origins of the Sabbath and why was it a sign of sanctification?
How did Peter describe the Christian experience? What virtues of Christianity did he emphasize? Do Christians have a role to play in the salvation experience? What is the most important virtue of all? How did Peter view the life after death experience? What did he mean by putting off my tabernacle? As Peter writes his final letter before following Jesus to the cross, what can we learn and apply to our lives today?
The Bible teaches about a day lost in history. A day God designed for us to remember. This week's lesson uncovers the mystery of this forgotten and lost day.
The School of Life brings continuous testing, one after another – well that’s how it seems to me. We are bombarded with one challenge after another with very little time, if any, to ‘party’ in between. Amazingly, the experiences are quite similar for those on the ‘narrow path’. God permits trials. You are not alone. Praise God in your trials.
My soul is troubled. Our world has truly changed. People have become less important. Survival of the fittest is the watchword and it’s a ‘dog eat dog’ interaction in our societies. The vulnerable are being passed, they are seen as a burden on the State, and many are ‘dumped’ like trash in ‘landfills’. Where has all the decency gone? Evil reigns without restraint. There is no respect for man or laws. Corruption is everywhere – even among Christians and Christian institutions. Chaos is the order of the day. Is any of this true about the society in which you live?
Not only did they choose death, but their decision robbed them of their power of choice. But God stepped in and provided a way out that gave them an option to choose again – to choose life. Through the ages, every human is making a decision, moment by moment, to accept God’s contingency or to forever remain with the choice of eternal death.
