The Holy Spirit quickens us to live for Christ. Abiding in Christ is allowing His words to be our sword, and faith our shield. As our consciences are activated, and we now see sin as it really is; in faith, we can reach out to Jesus to rescue us from the evil of sin, its power and its woe. There comes a time in one’s life when enough is enough, whatever it may be, the limit has been reached. You’ve had enough. It’s the same with sinning.

The Bible records the story of Ananias who reneged on his vow to God and his wife as an accessory to the fact. Ananias had promised to sell his land and return all proceeds to God; but after the sale, he had a change of heart. He decided to lie about the sale price with the view of only giving part of the proceeds to the Church. His wife was in full support of this decision. He went to church and presented his offering, but the Holy Spirit told Peter that Ananias lied about the sale price. When confronted on the spot, his immediate punishment was death. The same punishment was meted out to his wife only minutes after his burial. A really harsh punishment for breaking a vow!!

What did the apostles believe about God's Law. Surely, the people who spent the most time with Jesus would know what Jesus taught and believed about the Law both prior to and after His death and resurrection. What did they teach about God's Law? Did they contradict one another, or did they believe the same thing? This week we take a look at the writings of Paul, Peter, James, John and Jude in an effort to understand what the apostles believed about the relationship between the Law and Salvation. We will compare their teachings with the teachings of many churches today.
