John Spellman preaches at the Babylon SDA Church in New York on the three potential disciples of Jesus in Luke 9:57-62. Jesus taught that the road to preaching the Kingdom of God is not an easy road. But, what might His responses to the three men be saying to people of the world today? How might these messages apply to our generation? Is it possible to be dead, while you're living and walking around? Does God have an answer for spiritual death?

What can we learn from the sacrifice of Jesus about how love manifests itself? Does following Jesus come at a cost? What did Jesus give up to rescue humanity? What can we learn from Paul, Peter, John, and Matthew about what it takes to follow Jesus? How does love manifest itself in the Christian faith?
Jeremiah has a very human response to his pain and suffering resulting from being rejected as he spoke the Word of the Lord. What lessons can we learn about suffering and going through hardship resulting from standing for our faith? Will God's people today have a similar experience? What did Jeremiah learn about his weaknesses and what God does in spite of human weakness? How did Pashur respond to Jeremiah? What was God trying to say to the people of Judah? Is prophecy conditional or always fulfilled once a prophet utters the words?
The Bible teaches about a day lost in history. A day God designed for us to remember. This week's lesson uncovers the mystery of this forgotten and lost day.
The Code justified my actions, instead of condemning me. The incident happened more than a decade ago but it still serves as reference point for many things. I was a young driver who had received strict advice from a friend that I should thoroughly know the Jamaican Road Code and drive by it. I took his advice literally and was very proud in holding my own on the streets. One day the police, with flashing lights tried to pull me over in a very deep corner.
I can brighten the corner where I stand. I can be like a pebble dropped in the water. The combined action of all God’s children, in brightening their corners or be like pebbles dropped in water, will attract the lost and dying to the Christ we love. The ripple effect will spread wide and far.
Sing the clouds away, night will turn to day, if you sing and sing and sing you’ll drive the clouds away. The words of this childhood song are still true today. When you sing, its like the weight is lifted and you feel free, empowered to go on. There’s no need for strong drink, cigarettes, or even increase food intake – all you need to do is just sing. Keep a song in your heart and you will be singing as the days go by.
