Discipling Through Metaphor

Jesus, the greatest teacher that ever lived, used metaphor and other forms of figurative techniques, to reach the people He came to save. Many other Biblical writers used allegories and metaphor as well. On the other hand, scholars, like the apostle Paul, were plain and straight forward. Why did God sometimes use parables and allegories to communicate with His people? What does this tell us about God's character? Do these messages still hold relevance for us today? What does the way God communicates with us have to say about how God created us? We will explore these questions in this week's lesson.

It’s for us too and to our children, and our children’s children. “Those who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength.” Don’t run before Him or take things into your own hands. Let God handle it for you. You only need to pray and fast and wait.

No More Excuses

While you could be made right by following earthly laws, it is not so in God’s government. No one can keep God’s Law to be saved. Not at all - it is an impossible feat! On the contrary, we obey God’s Law because we have been saved by Jesus’ sacrifice on our behalf. His gift of grace empowers us to be obedient.

Rise Up And Walk

You can claim God’s forgiveness and rise up and walk. Rise up and walk away from guilt and shame, from the enemy’s constant reminder of what you did. Yes, in faith, reach out to Jesus. Your sins are forgiven. It’s time you get past your past, and rise up and walk. Do not let guilt and shame hold you captive any longer. Close out the critical eyes and lips of the Pharisees and teachers of the law around you and focus only on Jesus’ pardoning grace. Then, in faith, rise up and walk.
