Have you ever watched American Ninja Warrior? Athletes compete to overcome many obstacles and make great sacrifices including money, time, careers, relationship stability, among a host of other things. They are dedicated and resolute in their desire to win. They show themselves willing to do whatever it takes. What can Christians learn from their example about being dedicated to God? Are there many in the church who need a conversion experience? Should God be part of our lives or the center and focus of our lives? What if God had believers like the American Ninja Warriors in these last days?

A Matter of Life and Death

This week we discuss Solomon's themes of law as it relates to light and life. How can God's law function as a light in our lives? What does it mean to have the law written on the heart? He delivered them all – in different ways. God sees everything and He’ll work it out for your good. Just continue in the faith. Don’t allow your temporary troubles to rob you of your eternal peace. Do not give up on God. Soon we’ll be done with the troubles of this world. We are going to meet our God.

Leave It There

I know we all have our challenges, we all have our burdens. Notice I said burdens and not problems. But, whatever our burdens are – whether it be financial burdens, relationship burdens, family burdens, health burdens, job burdens, your seemingly inability to cope under all these burdens, the promise to you and me today is to cast our burden upon the Lord and He shall sustain us. Let us allow Him to carry them for us. He is much stronger than us anyway. He can deal with it. He will work it out. He will sustain us. He will never suffer the righteous to be moved.

Put Off This Tabernacle (Q & A)

What does Peter mean by “Put off this my tabernacle”? Paul uses the term “put on” as if describing clothing to describe what happens at the resurrection. But notice that he doesn’t describe it as an even that takes place immediately at death. Instead, he describes it as an event that takes place at the end of time when the trumpet of God sounds. It is a simultaneous resurrection of those who died in Christ and all believers “shall be changed”. If what is corruptible must put on incorruption, it implies that incorruption is “put on” while corruption is “put off”. Immortality is “put on” while mortality is “put off”. The clothing analogy or metaphor seems to describe the nature of death and a future resurrection in Christ at the end of time.
